Giveaway Day!

I made some spaghetti sauce in the crock pot yesterday. I chopped the veggies real fine in the food processor and added tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, anchovy paste, tomato paste, browned chuck and pork. Oh yeah, a splash of white wine too. Why not? It turned out really good and there's plenty to freeze for next time.

I thought some of these were hilarious and/or gross: 29 Absolutely Terrible Craft Ideas

It's day 16 of Blogtoberfest! More than halfway through posting each day of October. It's not easy, I'll tell you that. To celebrate, I'm giving away three of my handmade creations. There's a cathedral window pin cushion, small wallet, and a Velcro closure pouch to hold your treasures. Just leave a comment and I'll choose three winners at the end of the week. I'll ship anywhere. Make sure to leave your e-mail address if you're a no-reply or anonymous commenter.

Queen of odd breakfasts strikes again. Split pea soup. A poached egg might have been nice on top. I could eat a poached egg on dirt. I don't think I'll ever be a normal breakfast eater, although this pumpkin pie oatmeal sounds pretty doable. I'm just happy that I finally embrace breakfast after many, many years of skipping it or forcing myself. It is the most important meal of the day.

  1. My go to breakfast is a toasted peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich, if I have some I put crisp bacon in the middle. If I have time I whip up a stir fry from whatever is in the veg/salad drawer in the fridge. Love the pinsushion.

  3. Wow, for a moment there, I was trying to figure out why those fist pics were "supposed" to be so ugly ?~! Imagine my relief :-)

Split pea soup makes a warm meal any time of the night day or in between. So delicious, and with that egg on board it's a perfect proteinaceous delight. A slice of toast or cracker or the odd crouton adds a bit of textural interest too. Can you smell the freshly grated Parmesano Reggiano melting into that mixture of goodness and love...
