It's Starting To Look A Lot Like...

...a doll quilt swap! Since May of 2009, my little swap on the Quilting Board has grown from 12 swappers to a whopping 67! January 2010 holds the record for the most swappers. And there's a theme for January as well. We're all making quilts representative of our city, state, or country. We have swappers from the United States, Canada, England, Japan, New Zealand, and even Guam.

Old Tobacco Road Is Finished!

I finished something! This is for my dad and his wife for Christmas. He's been whining about wanting a quilt since I started quilting. The two heirloom quilts I have were made by his grandmothers. I used ghastly reproduction fabrics that I inherited from a quilter who quit. Can you believe quilters sometimes quit? Scary, huh?

The pattern is from Bonnie Hunter's site, which I adore! It was a mystery quilt called "Old Tobacco Road." I've done several of her mysteries and they are so much fun. She has a new one up for the holidays. It's gorgeous, but I didn't have time to play. I'm definitely putting it on my list though!

A Little R&R!

Today wasn't as frantic as this week has been. Has it been a long week to anyone? Usually they fly by, but this week is dragging. I was waiting on approvals for jobs that have to be quick printed and that always gets my blood pressure up. I'm a printing snob from way back when we used to do press approvals and the printers bought us expensive dinners! Any hoo, in between design and approval I managed to fit in a few fun things. Love the half-eaten gingerbread man. Make one! He will make you smile!

Black and white Zentangles this morning. These are pretty relaxing. Google Zentangle and get funky with me.

Mini quilt for Amy. Just threw some scraps together. It's 6" x 6".

Here's the back.

Now THIS is a miniature quilt! See what happens when I have time on my hands? You should see my studio! I organized it within an inch of itself! It's still "artsy," but I have organizational issues. Is that ADD or OCD? Probably both. I tend to overindulge in most areas of my life.

That's all I have! I'm making homemade foccacia and heating up leftover spaghetti sauce and killer meatballs. I need to freeze more. I always cook for a crowd and end up tossing the leftovers. More freezing would eliminate the waste. Hope you guys are having a creative day. I can't wait to see what you're creating!

Busy, Busy, Busy

I've been busier than a one-armed paper hanger! Between work, teenagers, cooking, swaps, errands, laundry, and housework, I don't know if I'm coming or going. I'm hoping things will slow down soon. Yeah right, it's the holiday season. Who am I kidding? I hope you are finding time to be creative.

A little zippered bag made from selvages for a fellow quilter who graciously sends me her selvages. She works with some fun fabrics!

Baby burp pad experiment. Wonder if I could trade a teenager for a cute little baby? Just for a few hours.

Twin holiday dolls. The pattern is easy and fun. That Martha! She finds the best stuff.

Pop-Tarts for dieters or diabetics.Yep, that's a thimble. My hand sewing is getting a little better!

And Here's The Other Top!

This one is for Bree. I'll sew the backs tomorrow and I have a neato label that someone embroidered for this one. It's amazing how all of these pretty blocks came together. I think they will be fun lap quilts for the girls.

Okay, and just in case you think I've been slacking...

P.S. I worked and did laundry too. Life is good!

Happy Monday!

I'm finally getting back to the blog after Blogtoberfest! Boy, that was hard. And I didn't even post every day! I bored myself sillier!

I've been working on a few things. The gals on the Quilting Board made some beautiful blocks for my "Play It Forward" quilts. You can read about the inspiring story and response here. Here are half the blocks as I'm making two quilts. I spent the day pressing and trimming blocks and getting both tops put together. Yay! I'll send these off to Eagle Mountain Quilting sometime this week. Maybe I can sneak in a couple of my tops too. I have so many to be quilted! The quilts aren't very large, but I'm terrified to mess up the quilting. The blocks are so awesome. Everyone made some beauties!

Here's a neato blog and giveaway if you need to add to your reading list! I can never have enough neat blogs to inspire me! I hope your Monday was picture perfect.

Have you Sashikoed?

My Japanese friend Yumi sent me two of these beautiful Sashiko kits and some colorful Sashiko yarns. I'm a crappy embroiderer, but I found this technique kind of easy. Just follow the lines! And you can load up a few stitches on your needle, so it goes quickly. Isn't this one pretty?

Wave Runner Progress

What a fun quilt to make! No exact cuts, some fun curves, and an endless possibility of layouts. I'm dying to sew everything together, but I think I'll let it gel a little. Sure wish I had a design wall. A design floor has to be picked up! Plus, I had to vacuum first! At least my studio got vacuumed. Cleaning is done for the day. Back to sewing!

If you want to give this quilt a try, there's an awesome tutorial button to the right. Thanks Bumble Beans!

Ours, All Ours!

Today we paid off our mortgage! We officially owe no one this minute! What a great feeling! Yay!

Sunday Stash #12

Amy Butler's new line, "Love." I do love it! To see the entire collection click here. Prepare to drool. I need a yard or two of each print. This is what I've amassed so far.

Never ask your teenager to fix your label maker. Hmmpf!
