Sourdough Saturday

I caught Joe Ortiz and Julia Child on PBS making sourdough starter. Sounded like fun to me. I've tried sourdough starter before with so-so success. This one uses organic whole wheat flour, cumin, milk, and water. No yeast. The ingredients and time make the yeast.

I've been playing with clothesline and fabric strips and selvages. Tedious and boring, but I loved the result.

It's a big, scrappy bowl. Or a festive hat.

We discovered new wings at a local wing house. We've been there twice just to get the wings. They're called trophy wings and they are grilled. Grilled wings are my favorite preparation. The sauce is a mixture of teriyaki sauce, garlic, and hot sauce. Different, but so good. I also put a dry rub of spices on the wings before I grilled them. I brushed them with the trophy sauce the last few minutes of grilling.

Serve the wings with burnt sweet potato fries. Oh, man! This is what happens when you are grilling outside and baking inside.

  2. I love that bowl! I was going to ask how you made it, but since you called it 'tedious' I'm going to be realistic and just admire yours.
