Oh My Stars

The January block for Lucky Stars is done. It was much easier the second time around. ;) I hope I remember to check the print dialog box next month. Remind me, okay? My first attempt is on the left. It's too small because I didn't print the patterns correctly.

The practice block I made on the right is the wrong size too, so I may need to revisit that one as well. Maybe I'll just keep making the monthly blocks and throw the two odd-sized blocks on the back side. Hopefully there will only be two odd-sized blocks!

And hopefully I'll quit making silly mistakes like this. Paper piecing keeps you on your toes.

Loved this Boxy Pouch Tutorial by Pretty Modern. Easy. And I barely break a sweat working with zippers now. I've come a long way, baby.

I bought this whole papaya thinking it was some sort of melon. It's the kind with the big, black, round seeds and is called a Maradol papaya. I lead such a sheltered life. After researching, I've found that the seeds are edible. I'll have to try them. I like to eat the papaya with lime juice, salt, and freshly cracked black pepper.

Last night I grilled up some Swordfish with Basil-Caper Butter. Oh, yum, it was really good. Roasted new potatoes, steamed broccoli, and burnt blackened pesto bread rounded out the meal. I will definitely try that basil-caper butter on future proteins.

Happy Sunday! I'm off to whip up a spinach tomato quiche and fruit plate.

Linking here where I'll be the next hour or so!

  2. Thank goodness for practice blocks! I learned the hard way that it's worth the time and fabric to do that for tricky blocks.

Your boxy pouch is very cute! I'm glad you're over your fear of zippers.

  3. I had to number all my templates because they printed without. ???? Anyone else?

At least I remembered to take the scaling off and make extra copies. Now to attempt the practice block.
