My eldest noisemaker turns 21 today. We're not really a birthday cake family; most birthdays involve pie...or steak if you're of the male persuasion. College Boy wanted chocolate chip cookies. "The good kind," he told me. As in don't use some fancy recipe or add in nuts or peanut butter. Basically, the Tollhouse version everyone knows and loves. Minus the nuts. They turned out kind of flat, but the birthday boy said they were great.
His girlfriend showered him with lots of lovely gifts and took him off on a secret adventure early this morning. I'm hoping it doesn't involve parachutes or alcohol. Oh gawd, or tattoos. I didn't think of that! He was a little nervous as he's more of a planner, but he went along willingly. A half dozen of decorated Dunkin Donuts lured him right out the door.
The Easy Street mystery is demystified. It's pretty cute and I think my fabric choices work okay. I'm plugging away at the two different 15" blocks and side setting triangles.
Bonnie is notorious for setting quilt blocks on point. The first time I tried this I was terrified, but it really wasn't all that hard. I'm more comfortable with that technique now. The best part about the mystery is that it put a tiny dent in my stash. The pieced backing will eat up even more. Yay!
the blocks look great! my husband likes the boring cookies too. bleah!
ReplyDeleteI love your color choices Michelle. It's looking good!!
ReplyDeleteI love the mystery blocks. They look great.
ReplyDeleteMy plain old chocolate chip cookies always come out flat too. But the family says the taste good and they don't care what they look like...so sometimes I oblige them and sometimes I add what I want!
ReplyDeleteI love that pop of orange.
ReplyDeleteI love your colors and the less scrappy - more "planned" look. Can't wait to get to step 8. I'm still working on 7 as I did a lot of "unsewing" on the first 4 triangles. I put a wrong block in.
ReplyDeleteUsing up scrap stash is a good thing. Your top is looking great.
ReplyDeleteDid you find out where they went?? And were all those presents from her??? Impressive...
ReplyDeleteI love your colours. I especially like the curly black/white fabric - makes the block look kind of lacy.
