Back To It

I did a whole lot of this over the weekend. And I'm going to finish it up today. A clean laundry room is just an excuse to sew more. I need to remember to do a load or two during the week instead of dealing with Mount Dirty Clothes all weekend long.

But I did find time to sew over the weekend. Here's the January Lucky Stars BOM. I spaced out and forgot to adjust the page scaling when I printed the pattern. Doh! I also forgot I was using grey as my background color. I used white for this block. Double doh! I've already printed out new patterns so I get to make another one of these pretties.

What do you think of this abstract collage? Hollywood's charge found a glue stick on my desk and we gave him trash to glue. He thought it was beautiful and it kept him entertained for at least five minutes.

While he glued, I made him a small wallet. He was not impressed. In fact, he left it here, so I guess I'll be sporting a chocolate chip cookie mini wallet.

These Banana Bread Bars were really good. I halved the recipe and baked in a 9" x 9" pan.

I simmered this authentic Bolognese Sauce for four hours yesterday. The addition of milk to spaghetti sauce kind of freaked me out and it didn't thicken up until the very end, but it was really rich and delicious. Just in case we didn't like it, I made the Pioneer Woman's Olive Cheese Bread. This bread is practically a meal in itself. I always substitute a combination of blue cheese and mozzarella in place of the monterey jack cheese. It's a real healthy bread. Not.

I'm still tripping on those scrappy trips around the world. They're fun and easy. I've loved seeing everyone's blocks on Instagram and Flickr. It's gone quite viral.

It's back to school and work for all of us. Happy Monday! Linking here.

  1. Oh yeah, the reality of the laundry. Did mine yesterday, and there'll be more tomorrow. Does it ever end?

Cute collage! 5 minutes is a pretty good attention span!

Your scrappy trips are looking good! I love your happy colors!

  2. Happy new year Michele! Love your paper pieced block and really digging the scrappy trip along blocks! I have resisted both so far.

  3. I like your stars block! I haven't done mine yet for this month .. you have to scale the .pdf? Uh oh. Good thing I haven't started yet because I have no idea what you're talking about. I always assume it prints correctly at 100%.
