April is Official UFO Month

I was going to post this yesterday on April Fool's Day, but ya'll probably would have thought I was joking. Heck, I can barely keep a straight face myself when I say I'm going to finish up some things in April. It's getting deep in the studio. I have so many unfinished projects (UFOs), finished stuff that needs a new home, fabric to purge, books to share, etc., etc. It must be Spring, and I have cleaning fever.

Amy at Global Change spoke to the Orlando Modern Quilt guild about their quest for providing clean drinking water. She originally asked quilters to make a quilt block for a compilation quilt she wanted to auction off to raise money. As it goes, the generous quilters from around the world came through with hundreds of blocks! Amy asked our guild to help design the first auction quilt and a couple of us offered to put together some tops for her. I choose these adorable elephant blocks that two quilters in Italy made.

My favorite elephant block. Love the groovy mod fabric. I may still add some borders, but if not, I'm chalking this one up as finished.

Ever have Tuna ala King? My mom used to make this and I always loved it. My husband likes it too. Then we had two picky kids. They wouldn't touch this stuff with a ten-foot pole. They won't eat tuna casserole either. Something about hot tuna. And casseroles. Since both kids were working one night last week, I decided to bring back the 70's and make some Tuna ala King. It's easy and tastes much better than it looks!

Tuna ala King

1-2 Tablespoons Butter
2 Ribs of Celery, Sliced
1 Can Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 Soup Can Milk
Roasted Red Pepper (or Fresh)
1 Can Tuna
3/4 Cup Frozen Peas
Pepper

Melt butter and saute celery (and red pepper if you're using fresh) until softened. Add condensed cream of mushroom soup and one can of milk. Season with pepper. Simmer until thickened. Stir in tuna, peas and diced roasted red pepper.Heat through. Serve on buttered toast points.
