Speaking of chicken, I used the weekly leftover roast chicken and stock to make chicken and dumplings for lunch one day. I based the recipe on this one from the Tasty Kitchen blog but added some diced onion, carrot and celery to the broth. I stirred in some Italian parsley at the end. Everyone loved it. The dumplings are very good.
Inspector Gadget has been working from home all week. I know. His office was flooded by recent rains and a bad roof. Luckily, my work was slow, so I could shut myself in my studio and sew or goof off. I ran lots of errands too. He's on the phone all day long and talks very loudly. And he paces while he talks. They must love him at his office. ;)
Junior's been hanging out by my front door all week. Goof. He doesn't even flinch if I go out the door. I swear he's mocking me or waiting for my snake scream. I haven't seen his big brother lately, so that's good. And I haven't stepped on a snake all summer. I'm calling that progress.
We have a new baby boy percolating. My cousin and his wife are expecting their second child in November. Mia, their daughter will be two in February. They're naming the boy Buck. Buck? I begged my mom to tell them that Owen is a family name and maybe they could consider that as a middle name. Buck Owen! Ha! You know they have no idea who Buck Owens is. My mom would not comply. She's such a spoil sport. We're having a family brunch Sunday, so I made baby Buck Owens a businessman onesie.
I'll try to casually drop the Owen name during brunch Sunday. I've always been a big Buck Owens and Hee Haw fan. What's for dinner grandpa?
This made me laugh and I totally got it. I always loved some Hee Haw! And I'm glad you're snake population seems to be avoiding you this summer. Maybe because of how much rain we've had???
